Be Wildfire Aware & Protect Our Green Spaces

With the current hot, dry weather, the risk of fire is significantly higher than normal. Ailsworth Parish Council would like to advise visitors to our green spaces that barbeques are not currently permitted

Published: 24 August 2026

A small spark can quickly develop into a serious fire, putting people, wildlife, property and our valuable green spaces at risk.

Ailsworth Parish Council is asking everyone to take extra care when visiting our green spaces.

Please help reduce the risk –

  • Do not use barbeques on any open space.
  • Do not light fires or campfires.
  • Dispose of cigarettes safely and never drop cigarette ends.
  • Take all litter home with you, especially glass bottles, which can increase the risk of fire.

If you see a fire:

  • Move to a safe location.
  • Call 999 immediately and report the fire.
  • Do not put yourself at risk trying to tackle the fire.

Wildfires can spread very quickly. Thank you for helping to protect our community during this period of increased fire risk.
